My son-in-law once gave me a pewter squirrel nutcracker because some iof the voracious little beasts had filled the valve vault behind the house with gravel from under the house. While not particularly humiliating it was as close as, I am happy to say, I have ever gotten

After all these years, I have never received a Christmas gift that I wasn’t thrilled to receive.

Is that typical, or am I just lucky ?

I can’t say I was embarrassed but once my sister gave me a pink shirt. She also gave me black jeans which I also wouldn’t wear. At least she cared enough to buy something for me.

  10. Chuck Mound Says:

When I was about 11 yrs. old my mother bought me a loose knit orangish brown cardigan sweater. When we got to my grandmother’s house most of my uncles and great-uncles had the same style. My cousins teased my the rest of the day and evening.

Many years ago I had a friend who was known to give “unusual” gifts. A group of us got together at my home to exchange our gifts, and Eileen mentioned that she gave me a valuable “cut glass item”. When I opened the package, there was an old glass urinal!

  15. Carl Jefferson Says:

I don’t think that I have ever receved an embarrasing gift. The only gift that I can recall are sets of plaid and striped PJ tops and bottoms with robs that were super super over sized big.

  16. kgrp77 Says:

I don’t remember receiving any embarrassing Christmas gifts.

  17. Claire O'Donnell Says:

Well, the thought was very nice…..but the power charger for my portable radio lacked a bit of charm….But it was a kind thought that I did appreciate

while I haven’t gotten too many embarrassing things. I do have one that is well not embarrassing, if I don’t tell the whole story.
so the story….. where I used to work they would have a taken name get them a gift under an $ amount thing. The last year I worked there we had a lot of employees and “they(s)” decided to make it optional, I opted out for $ reasons. however after Christmas one of the girls gave me a “do you want this it was extra and I don’t know who to give it to” conversation ( was it originally meant for me? she was kind of pushing me to do the gift exchange. ). it was a bit awkward because they were Christmas pajamas with a little Christmas tree pattern on them and the shirt is green and white. she at the time had a boyfriend/fiancé. and I still to this day think that they are women’s pajamas and yet I’m still not completely sure. there you have it the full story including the fact that I still wear them because they fit quite nicely (oops). Now please don’t tell anybody, just let them read it here as I have not told anybody yet and probably never will for a long time.

  20. Tristan Mitchell Says:

Nothing too embarrassing unless you count an ugly sweater now and again…

  21. LEE HORNER - Tucson, AZ Says:

A pair of white shoes & white belt — so I could look like a used car salesman I suppose

  22. Bill Apple Says:

I received a horse on a stick, remember them? It was a broom stick with a horses head on the top. You were supposed to put the stick between your legs and hop around to simulate “riding the the horse.” 🙂
