A memory that I try to make as frequent as possible: floating on an inner tube, on an Adirondack lake, listening to favorite music, on a warm, sunny day.
I like any time spent ‘up north’ by Lake Michigan. It’s beautiful there with the sugar sand beaches.
Cruising on the Delta Queen on the Mississippi River in 1996.
Favorite summer memory? That would be a trip to the Indiana Dunes (along Lake Michigan) with highschool friends back when I was a teenager. The water, sun and activities on the beach were great fun!
Playing pick-up baseball games for hours with no uniforms and no adults – just fun.
Long ago summers, when all our families would gather at the lake for a week of camping, swimming, and eating food cooked on (or dropped in) the campfire.
My favorite summer memory is going to the beach at the age of 6 and jumping waves in the ocean for the first time, down on the South Carolina coast.
My favorite summers were spent by Lake Erie at my GrandMa’s place. She had lush raspberry bushes that were laden with fruit during the summers and my cousins and I would wait for our turn to pick those red delicious treats. Followed by endless hours of running on the beach, making the best sand castles and splashing each other… If only I could go back in time!
My favorite summer memory has to be riding my bike to the little store to buy penny candy.
Playing in the stream that ran through our 40 acre woods.
My favorite summer memory is experiencing the Main Street Electrical Parade at Disney World with my two preschool sons for the first time.
Spending summers at the Jersey shore with my family in the past, present and hopefully the future .
Twin Knobs Beach at Cave Run Lake
My favorite summer memory was a vacation we took in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We had our poodle, Bou-bou (short for Bourgeois Bouvier which my Dad pronounced Borgess Boover) with us, and he was absolutely fascinated by the seagulls along the shore. The gulls would come down low over him and hover, and Bou-bou would just go nuts. When they flew out over Lake Michigan, Bou-bou went right after them. I think he would have chased them all the way to Canada if we hadn’t had him on a leash!!! For the rest of his life, all we had to do to get him to run the the window was yell, “Seagulls, Bou-Bou!!!” It was really cute.
Hiking the high Sierras with my son.
My favorite summer memory is of a trip our family took around Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. We took our poodle, Bou-bou (short for Bourgeois Bouvier which my Dad pronounced Borgess-Boover) with us, and he was absolutely fascinated by the seagulls along the shore. Making matters worse, they would fly down low over Bou-bou’s head and just hover there. Bou would go absolutely nuts. When they flew out over the lake, Bou-bou went after them, and I think he’d have chased them all the way to Canada if he hadn’t been on a leash!!! For the rest of his life, all we had to do was shout, “Seagulls, Bou-bou,” and he’d come bouncing from wherever he was to bark at them out the front window.
This summer has been good, but I won’t miss it when it’s over. Bring on Fall!!!
my favorite memory is of the many times i would ride my bike down to the creek and build forts, catch tadpoles, explore the wilds of iowa.
One summer in particular when I was 17 and helped my grandfather put a new roof on his house….at the time I just considered it “work” and very hard and HOT work at that. My grandfather passed away many years ago and now that I’m older I so appreciate the time I spent with him up on the roof that summer, we did a lot of talking/laughing etc. just the 2 of us and it’s a great memory for me.
Getting married a few years ago!
My favorite summer was just last summer. So thankful I have lived long enough to see it. Everyday I wake is a good day.

Favorite summer memory: First Rock in Rio, January 1985, Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. AC/DC, Yes, Scorpions and James Taylor.
The Virginia Hamfests at Berryville and Manassas.
Listening to the Detroit Tigers win the pennant in 1968.
My favorite memory was going to see the Cleveland Indians at old Municipal Stadium in the summer of 1974 for the very first time, I was hooked immediately. Baseball and radio has been an important part of my summers ever since, was the reason I purchased a CCrane EP several months ago!
Air conditioning!
First trip to Disney World in 1982
Getting up early each day and spending the day going to Rock Creek Park and swimming/exploring and walking along the national historic sites in Washington, DC
When I was younger, I remember sitting in my dad’s truck listening to the radio at night. The receiver was really sensitive and I would see what was out there. I remember my dad being impressed and him giving me stamps so that I could QSL the stations I heard.
Summers were endless days spent jumping through lawn sprinklers, climbing trees, reading comics, riding my bike, swimming and just looking at the clouds in the blue, blue sky.
Lots of Great Times at Hampton Beach NH..with Mary and Rose at the BluejayMotel
The first time I headed to the ocean in New Hampshire, I never seen anything quite like it before. I never saw three bridges in one place either. That will always stay with me. Since then I’ve traveled up there almost every year.
One of my favorite summer memories is camping and fishing near the mouth of the Two Hearted River in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
Going to Woodstock in the summer of 1969.
The smell of the dust on hot summer days
going to Coney Island once a year with my father as a child. Going on the Island Queen and the merry-go-round. They were filled with wonder.
4 years ago. The last summer with my mom before she passed from cancer. We put on the biggest fireworks show and barbecue we could for her that 4th of July. Wonderful memories made and she loved it. We lost her 2 months later.
Visiting the Philippines as a young sailor.
Playing catch with my son after dinner. Then, one night he finally was able to get the ball to my general direction and it really was a game of catch, rather than me fetching all the time. Most important was the ‘talks about life’ we had, me and my boy.
When I was about eight, my family was lucky enough to spend a few nights in a cabin in Yellowstone Nation Park. Everything was great–even the scary sounds of ground squirrels sneaking through a crack under the door to eat our cheese crackers during the night.
It would be our backyard family picnics.
Favorite memory is lounging around as a kid, reading Nancy Drew books in the backyard.
Being left to our own devices as kids, going fishing and eating watermelon for lunch and dinner.
Reading many good books … in total relaxation, after a hard year at school.
My best summer was my 16th (long ago) when I had an old 63 ford galaxie 500 red with black vinyl top and white interior (bucket seats and center console) and cruising around north alabama with my first love and listening to wls in chicago at night. Very few concerns and worries and to have my girl by my side that summer. Alas, nothing lasts, car broke, lost my girlfriend and wls eventually went talk radio…
Walking home from the town auction in the pitch dark… letting the stars above the trees guide my way
Observing the summer night sky through a telescope or binoculars.
Doing absolutely nothing but sitting by the lake with a cool breeze blowing off the water.
My favorite memory of summer would be in 1979 when I worked at a recreation park swimming pool. It was a carefree time when I make new friends and had wonderful, new experiences.
my first summer in san francisco, where i didn’t feel like i was going to melt to death.
