I used to love the old NBC Talknet hosts, Sally Jesse Rafael and Bruce Williams and I’ve laways been a fan of Christine Craft!
Current program/host Leo Laporte “The Tech Guy”
My favorite all time host is Art Bell. I know, I know, almost boring with its predictability. Coast to Coast AM was where I first learned about CCrane, and why I ordered my first CCRadio. I still listen to some of Art’s old shows through my WiFi2 radio. I like George Noori and catch his show too, but there is and always will be only one Art Bell.
“Lamplighter Theater” is a wonderful Christian radio program. I listen to it on KVIP radio in Redding, CA. Just like old-fashioned radio drama before TV. Imagine!
Hi. The best host I remember was Ron Lundy on WABC in NY.
His trademark was to open his show by by saying he was in the “greatest City in the world!” He worked around the noon hour in 770 WABC “The home of the all-Americans”! His chatter & attitude was perfect!
He passed away a few years ago. Rest In Peace sir.
For long time Clevelanders it has to be 1420 AMs Gary Dee show.Years off the air now ask any NE.Ohio radio listener if he’s missed now and it would be a resounding YES.Unfortunately in today’s politically correct climate he’d never have made it on the air now.His sense of humor; Think downhome Uncle Gary Midwest Blazing Saddles style of humor.😂
So far, it’s still Garrison Keillor, formerly of A Prairie Home Companion. I hope he can get his misunderstanding, or whatever, worked out.
fiber mcgee and molly
Jonathan Greene when he was on Armed Forces Network in Germany. At WTMJ in Milwaukee he was good at first but he got crazy conservative and I turned him off, literally, for good, sadly.
Jack Benny is my favorite. His dry humor and the rest of the cast are always funny.
Art Bell of course!
Herb Jepko and The NIGHTCAPS, a syndicated radio show in the mid 1970s. People would call in from all over to tell stories, play a musical instrument, and just entertain the other listeners. Listeners could become members, and would get a membership card, etc.
Coast to Coast with George Norri
Chris Plante on WMAL, Wash. DC
Boot Bell,WHOT throughout my “Wonder Years” in Youngstown Ohio
Jim Zippo when I was a teenager. He was hilarious on the oldies station in the 80s. I was in high school then.
I’m sure I’m not the only one to say – the original Art Bell show. I also first heard of C. Crane on his show. Art Bell was the pioneer of live overnight shows that were always interesting, enlightening and entertaining
Currently my favorite is Red Eye Radio with Eric Harley and Gary McNamara. Historically there are just too many to mention without forgetting one or more that I liked.
I’m fond of Detective OTR shows, especially Phillip Marlowe. Full of classy dialog and interesting problems.
It had to be the inimitable Jean ShepRd, in WOR and other stations in New York. Every night, he would spin stories, off the cuff, no notes, that would exactly 90 minutes later at the end of the closing theme! He is best known for writing the Christmas classic “The Christmas Story”… but he wrote so much more. He was a story teller par excellence, who has never been equaled!

The Picking Post
There are a lot of radio shows that I like, and many of them are listed in these comments, but I have to go back a long ways to talk about the one favorite in my life that I still remember. The reason I chose this one is because it was a time that was fun, interesting, and I was still very young and adventurous. I used to sneak our little Sears radio into bed with me at night and listen to the “whistler” with that little Silvertone radio, and the funny thing is that the radio had an electrical leak that would shock me if I touched it the wrong way. So the shocks added to the mystery and appeal of the radio show to me. That was a very long time ago, more than 60 years ago and I was a pre-teen kid that was excited by the radio shows of the times, but the Whistler was almost like forbidden fruit that was lots of fun to listen to and then try to sleep!
I agree, The Whistler was a very good show!
Jack Benny.

Old Art Bell is still my favorite…
