We’ve all been there. It’s bed time and you look at the clock and 15 minutes have passed but you’re still wide awake. Tick-tock, tick- tock, you look at the clock again…..10 minutes have passed and you’re no closer to sleep. Now you’re getting frustrated and anxious. You need to fall asleep and the more you think about it the less likely you are to nod off . You know your partner is unknowingly rubbing it in by being sound asleep, but you decide to start World War Three by turning on your radio (or Kindle or iPhone) so you can distract your thoughts and finally get some much-needed sleep. Sound familiar?
If so, we have some solutions for you.
Our first option is the SoftSpeaker Pillow Speaker – This little device is also known as the marriage saver. It is soft enough that you can lay directly on the plush covered speaker or you can place it under your pillow. Plug it directly into the headphone jack of your device and you can listen to whatever you want without waking your partner. Now you’ve avoided World War Three and you’ve gotten to fall asleep (or at least learned something interesting) making tomorrow a much better day than it would have been otherwise. We have this version of pillow speaker available with a volume control.
Our newest solution in the struggle for slumber is the Amplified Pillow Speaker with Kevlar. We created it based upon feedback from users of the original SoftSpeakers and it is designed to overcome limitations with newer technology. We’d heard from many of our customers that the devices they were plugged into such as iPads, Kindles, iPhones, Chromebooks, etc. were “too quiet” or “barely audible”. This has even been a problem for some radio listeners. This prompted us to create an amplified version to allow you to listen at a volume that works for you, even when the device you’re using wants to limit the loudness. Whether the issue is your device or the fact that your ears don’t work the way they used to, the Amplified SoftSpeaker Pillow Speaker will allow you to get rid of the earbuds and the frustration of getting tangled up and enjoy your audio books, Netflix or radio show at the volume you prefer.
If you aren’t sure which solution is right for you, please call us and we’d be happy to walk you through making a selection.
Getting a good night’s sleep may be more important than you think. According to the National Sleep Foundation, there are many negative health effects from inadequate sleep ranging from unsafe driving to heart disease. Listening to 45 minutes of music before falling asleep relaxes your parasympathetic nervous system, which helps your body relax. Sleep is such a hot topic, Oprah’s O Magazine had an entire section dedicated to it in the January 2018 issue.

I do indeed have trouble falling asleep. I’m fortunate enough to subscribe to XM radio, so I’ve found it helpful to listen to “Escape” Channel 69, which only plays soft music. I try to find a volume loud enough for me to hear, yet low enough to not disturb my wife… it usually works, but your new device has certainly caught my attention… I appreciate all of your products.
I go into the living room and my recliner so I can listen to the radio, that I got from C.Crane. I listen to old time country music and usually fall asleep right away. I have a weather radio, from Crane, in the bed room but not where I can hear it very well. A pillow speaker might just be the answer.
I listen to Coast to Coast AM or Beyond the Darkness until I fall asleep.
I have a pillow speaker that works well but it is made of hard plastic and even under the pillow it gets uncomfortable. The ccrane model appears to be more comfortable and also the volume control is an attractive feature[not all stations on my internet radio broadcast at the same volume]I am more than satisfied with the radios and products I have purchased from ccrane
yes listen to Christian radio every night ….. soothes me puts me in the right frame of mind and off i go to never-never-land
I listen to the radio every night with my pillow speaker and have for years. I have the CC Radio 2 and listen to the news. That probably doesn’t sound relaxing, but I generally fall right to sleep.
I listen to the BBC news on iHeart radio. Internet radio is so clear to listen to and allows me to receive radio stations all over the U.S.
Podcasts are my listening “go to” at night
I’ve been using your Soft Speaker Pillow Speakers for years with CC Radio or my iPad for years! I especially love the version with the volume control! I struggle with falling asleep and staying asleep. I couldn’t do either without your pillow speakers! Thanks!
Yes, I listen to streamed talk radio all night through an earbud, but I’m sure your pillow speaker would be better.
I sleep to thunder and lightning coupled with rain on a metal roof nightly.
I always listen to some kind of radio talk show or music. Mostly stream music from my C.Crane WiFi radio or sometimes I “borrow” my wife’s C.Crane Skywave and fall asleep to the sounds of shortwave – all through a 10+ year old C.Crane Soft Pillow Speaker.
I have always listen to radio. I was a shortwave listener in my younger days. I would log station call letters. Had long wire antennas all around my house. I this looks like a good product. They have sleep phones but I can’t wear phone to bed. Old Radio Shack had a pillow speaker but it had no fidelity. Hope to win won and let you know how it works. LUCK!
I usually listen to either Coast to Coast or Red Eye Radio
I listen to Radio Australia during the night on my CCtane Internet Radio. Used to listen to WBZ Boston….
I listen to talk radio, mostly sports talk as I’m trying to go to sleep. I find that the voices get monotonous after a bit and then I fall asleep. So, I prefer that instead of music because if it’s a radio staion playing songs I like, it keeps me awake because I get into the music. If they’re playing songs I don’t like, I keep changed the stations and that keeps me awake. By the way, I use the CC Pocket Radio and set its sleep timer to 120 minutes. That way, the radio turns itself off after I go to sleep.
I fall asleep usually listening to ESPN radio, for the recap of the days sports stories. Always wanted to try the C.Crane Soft Pillow Speaker.
If only the old Art Bell Show was still around, that’s what I’d fall asleep listening to, just as I did for almost 2 decades. Wonder when old Art will quit dilly-dallying around and get back on the air? Meantime I’ll just have to deal with Coast To Coast AM and hope for the best…
Amen to that. John B. Wells has a streaming program called Caravan to Midnight. He was on C to C before ,but was let go. He was so good. Think he was too much competition.
I love sleeping with music listening by bedside.I feel amplified pillow speaker would be a good product for this hobby.
I listen to old time radio, mostly comedy shows. They are so relaxing and calming. If I listen to talk shows I get too involved and fight going to sleep because I am interested in the topics.
i love the idea as i have two radios driving speakers i put in the middle of my pillow. this looks great but would be better to have two speakers.. one for each side. my tinnitus is horrible and i need all the help i can get. listen to relaxation radio on pandora through my c crane wifi radio. it works great
I thin k you can get a ” Y” ADAPTOR THAT WILL ALLOW YOU TO plug your head phones into so you only need one radio. I have one I bought years ago at Radio Shack.
I listen to John Bachelor podcasts every night when I go to sleep.
My husband and I both use the pillow speakers – no conflict there! And we snooze very well!
Just love CCrane radios
While I listen to a variety of books to help me fall asleep, I mainly listen to the Bible.
We listen to Coast to Coast AM (George Noory) every night and it really helps with mild insomnia. We have the SoftPillow Speaker but find the volume is low. An amplified pillow speaker is such a good idea.
I’ve been listening to all-night AM radio since I was a kid in Arizona, usually listening to KMOA out of Oklahoma City. I didn’t like the fade in and out of the station but that’s what we got at night. My family move to Los Angeles in the mid 60’s and I thought I was in 7th heaven with all the AM radio stations. When I got married my new bride got use to the radio on all night long, As my life has moved on with all its up and downs and the changes in technology I still have an AM broadcast on. Today because of where I live and changes of AM power output I turn to the internet and for my all night streaming AM broadcast. I would love to try your amplified pillow speaker.
I listen to NPR nightly to quiet my daily thought process. Commercial radio is laced with advertising which is designed to grab our attention but stimulation is the last thing I want for falling asleep. On the other hand Public Radio tends to be mostly talking voices and with the volume turned down, that becomes quiet murmuring which is a comforting sound to fall asleep by. It reminds me of days long ago when as a child I’d hear my parents talking in the other room while I was in bed drifting off. That has always been a pleasant image for me.
I have a playlist of recordings of rain, thunderstorms, and ocean waves on my iPod that I run throughout the night. The speakers I’ve been using are getting old and your pillow speakers sound like an ideal replacement.
I have two choices to help me doze: for music, our local Public radio Classical FM; other times, I listen to Talk radio and have found that the harder I try to pay attention, the sooner I fall asleep. Would love a pillow speaker to avoid the inevitable earbud falling out issue.
I use my pillow speaker every night. I read books on my phone and use my sleep timer. I often wake in the middle of the night and turn on NP
R1 to put me back in sleep mode.
I listen to AM (over the air) radio at night with my old original CC Radio. I have a pillow speaker, but also use earbuds. Prefer conservative talk shows and news. Also tune in to local weather radio. I go to sleep every night listening, and use the timer function to shut radio down in 90 minutes. I have 3 different over the air radios that were purchased from C. Crane.
I love to listen to late night radio.I have the original SoftSpeaker for under my pillow. My problem is,even with my CCR SW radio,it is difficult to get good volume on the small speaker. It was necessary for me to take the cover off the speaker to be able to hear the radio well.
Excellent!
I listen to my favorite music to fall asleep … most recently David Gilmour – the greatest rock guitarist of all-time 😉
I LISTEN TO COAST TO COAST, USING MY SOFT PILLOW SPEAKER FROM
C.CRANE. NOT A BETTER TALK HOST ON THE RADIO.
I listen to HD radio late 40 to 50’s music called Unforgettable on HD2, or Oldies on HD3. I am allway hoping CCrane would offer a portable and a table HD Radio. I attach my CCrane FM Transmitter to broadcast the HD all over my home.
I half listen-half sleep to am talk radio anywhere from New York to Chicago on either my CC Skywave, or CC RadioSW. Earbuds just aren’t comfortable sleeping.
Been using pillow speakers for years. Wires always seem to get frayed after several months.
Go to sleep every night with my C crane radio my husband gave me several years ago. Love my radio
I listen to audio books on my tablet to forget daily problems and sooth me to sleep.
I half listen, half sleep to AM talk radio stations anywhere from New York to Chicago. On either my Skywave, or CC RadioSW. Earbuds just aren’t a comfortable solution. I think it’s time to upgrade.
I listen to old time radio mystery stories @ night on line on my i phone. A pillow speeker would be a good adjunct.
I use your single earpiece because it is long enough for me to wear and leave my device on the bed stand. Plus if the earpiece falls out after I fall asleep it won’t wake me. I do wonder tho if I should try your pillow speaker. Would love to try it.
I listen to the Sleepbot Environmental Broadcast channel on my Internet radio. Very relaxing, minimalist, and aired without commercials or announcers!
I listen to old Art Bell broadcasts on “I heart radio” or Coast to Coast AM. I grew up listening to old time radio in the forties, only now I listen on my IPad.
I’m constantly searching for the right volume level…one that I can hear and at the same time not disturb anyone else! It’s a real problem in my household!!!
Pillow speakers sound like the perfect solution!
Coast to Coast AM: Listening to George Noory talk about UFOs puts me right to sleep.
i have dealt with chronic insomnia for over 20 years….listening to my ccradio2e all night long….just bought the newest version as the former one did not survive my recent house disaster all intact. would love to try the pillow speaker.
I tried a product called Sleep Phones which were built into a headband but the headband moves around as I toss and turn so the pillow speaker makes MUCH more sense…. Thanks for Thinking Outside of the Box-(spring)!
