  20. jimrittenhouse Says:

I’ve never done that as such. I always figure that there’s always a possibility that the universe is trying to tell me something, and to open my eyes as to the worthwhileness of a present. When I was 13, I made a huge icky-poo response to a book gift that I later wished that I’d (1) still had, and (2) never hurt the giver by complaining. It shamed me and made me sure to look for the best and always appreciate a present; I’m not perfect on that, but I try.

At the very worst, I try really hard to think of who would really appreciate it, and pass it on as a surprise to them out of the blue. Very quietly, very anonymously.
