With so many changes going on in the world, we sometimes wonder how those big switches can impact our lives. For us and we’re sure for you too, radio listening is King!

With the help of technology, radio has throttled forward to incorporate the latest and greatest in the world wide web of talk & music! Our customers are enjoying these benefits with our CC Wifi Radio that has iHeart radio who currently is #1 in the nation. Following in #2 slot has come to fruition with the joining of two Mammoths. CBS Radio Inc. (“CBS Radio”) and Entercom Communications Corp. (“Entercom”) (NYSE: ETM)  merged on November 17th 2017.

The combined companies’ pro forma revenue on a trailing 12 months basis was approximately $1.7 billion – which shows why Entercom is now the second largest radio station owner in the U.S. with 235 stations in 48 markets including 23 of the top 25. Now they are reaching and engaging over 100 million people each week with premium, unique local content. Wow! That’s a ton of talk radio & tunes!

Before the merge: Entercom was the fourth-largest radio broadcasting company in the U.S., reaching and engaging more than 40 million people a week.

In order to gain antitrust clearance from the US Justice Department on this merger, some stations had to be sold or swapped. Entercom did divest itself of 16 radio stations in Boston, San Francisco, Sacramento, and Seattle to meet regulatory approval. WBZ, WZLX and WRKO were taken over by iHeartMedia as a result of divestitures necessary for the closing of the Entercom-CBS Radio merger.

Are some of these stations your favorites?

As part of the exchange agreements, below is a list of what has taken place so far involving the two Top Dogs:

Entercom is to acquire iHeartRadio’s WKXJ-FM, WRXR-FM, WUSY-FM, and WNLD-FM in Chattanooga, as well as WBTJ-FM, WRNL-AM, WRVA-AM, WRVQ-FM, WRXL-FM, and WTVR-FM in Richmond.

iHeartMedia will acquire CBS Radio’s news/talk powerhouse “Newsradio 1030” WBZ-AM, long-running classic rock 100.7 WZLX-FM, along with Entercom’s urban AC “The New 97.7” WKAF-FM in Boston, WRKO-AM ALSO in Boston in addition to CBS Radio’s “The Fan 1090” KFNQ-AM, adult hits “96.5 Jack FM” KJAQ-FM, and 102.5 KZOK-FM in Sacramento.

“NewsRadio 1030” WBZ Boston is adding a simulcast on the HD2 channel of iHeartMedia CHR “Kiss 108” WXKS-FM (107.9). It’s part of an HD Radio multicast channel makeover in Boston by iHeart since taking over the all-news dynasty via a Local Marketing Agreement.

The “Evolution” dance format that was previously on 107.9 HD2 moves to the HD channel of country “101.7 The Bull” WBWL, while talk WRKO (680) gains an HD simulcast partner on the HD2 channel of classic rock WZLX (100.7).

“We’re always looking for ways to improve the listening experience for our listeners and reach more people wherever they want to listen,” Greater Boston Area – ‎Senior Vice President Programming – ‎iHeartMedia Dylan Sprague said. “We’re thrilled to offer our stations’ programming across several platforms, including iHeartRadio and on the FM band for HD radio owners.”

Just like Mr. Sprague, we at C. Crane also take pride in delivering the best sound quality and range of stations to please every listening ear over the internet waves with our CC Wifi radio.

  • I got this radio to use in an area where normal reception is very poor, and was very pleased with the results. The CC WiFi Radio has good sound quality for all of the stations I have tried, now matter how far away the station. – Chris, Milwakee, WI
  • Sound is very clear connected to my stereo system…THIS RADIO ROCKS…it picks up my favorite stations in Greece.  – Angelo Politus, NC
  • I used to live in St. John, U.S.Virgin Islands. Even way over in Northern California I can hear my favorite Dancehall , Jam Bands, Soca, and Reggae as clear as if I was dancing on my favorite beaches back home! – Dana Heuschkel, CA

Our customers prove this little radio is a Powerhouse all over the world!

With all these changes going on, after over 30 years of creating radios and antennas for better reception, we are firm in our belief that Radio is here to stay whether it be Analog, Digital or Streaming on Wifi!
