We’ve all been there. It’s bed time and you look at the clock and 15 minutes have passed but you’re still wide awake. Tick-tock, tick- tock, you look at the clock again…..10 minutes have passed and you’re no closer to sleep. Now you’re getting frustrated and anxious. You need to fall asleep and the more you think about it the less likely you are to nod off . You know your partner is unknowingly rubbing it in by being sound asleep, but you decide to start World War Three by turning on your radio (or Kindle or iPhone) so you can distract your thoughts and finally get some much-needed sleep. Sound familiar?
If so, we have some solutions for you.
Our first option is the SoftSpeaker Pillow Speaker – This little device is also known as the marriage saver. It is soft enough that you can lay directly on the plush covered speaker or you can place it under your pillow. Plug it directly into the headphone jack of your device and you can listen to whatever you want without waking your partner. Now you’ve avoided World War Three and you’ve gotten to fall asleep (or at least learned something interesting) making tomorrow a much better day than it would have been otherwise. We have this version of pillow speaker available with a volume control.
Our newest solution in the struggle for slumber is the Amplified Pillow Speaker with Kevlar. We created it based upon feedback from users of the original SoftSpeakers and it is designed to overcome limitations with newer technology. We’d heard from many of our customers that the devices they were plugged into such as iPads, Kindles, iPhones, Chromebooks, etc. were “too quiet” or “barely audible”. This has even been a problem for some radio listeners. This prompted us to create an amplified version to allow you to listen at a volume that works for you, even when the device you’re using wants to limit the loudness. Whether the issue is your device or the fact that your ears don’t work the way they used to, the Amplified SoftSpeaker Pillow Speaker will allow you to get rid of the earbuds and the frustration of getting tangled up and enjoy your audio books, Netflix or radio show at the volume you prefer.
If you aren’t sure which solution is right for you, please call us and we’d be happy to walk you through making a selection.
Getting a good night’s sleep may be more important than you think. According to the National Sleep Foundation, there are many negative health effects from inadequate sleep ranging from unsafe driving to heart disease. Listening to 45 minutes of music before falling asleep relaxes your parasympathetic nervous system, which helps your body relax. Sleep is such a hot topic, Oprah’s O Magazine had an entire section dedicated to it in the January 2018 issue.
Every night I must have my ccrane radio with my ccrane soft pillow speaker (with adjustable sound volume control) . They both go into the suitcase when traveling overnight. Gotta have it ! Or it takes at least a couple hrs to fall asleep. Waste of time. In a motel or visiting relatives just bring the radio and pillow speaker and quickly fall asleep listening to NPR .
I have been using earbuds to fall asleep but my right ear is very sore! I have to have something like this to relieve my ear soreness as i cannot fall asleep without my podcasts! My wife is a snorer par excellance!
Have been a fan of the soft speaker for several years and before that your only speaker available. Now my husband and I both use the adjustable volume control soft speaker every nigh to help us go to sleep.. I listen to George and all his guests and go as far back as Art Bell some twenty years ago. That is how I found out about CCrane. Thanks for your products which I have many.
I usually listen to News, and wake to the same. The nearby 24/7 News is just the thing that somehow does it for me, and it keeps me informed and helps me nod off. Next thing I know, it’s morning and time to get up.
I use my iPhone 5s as an internet radio in bed at night. My Crane pillow speaker is unable to be heard underneath the pillow so I just use the phone’s speaker with the phone laying on the bed near the pillow. The new amplified version would seem to be a good fix.
I like to listen to Coast to Coast, it is on from 1 AM to 5 AM on the East Coast. It puts me to sleep and does not bother the wife as I have the pillow speaker under the pillow.
I like many others credit the pillow speaker to enhance a restfull sleep. I “won’t leave home without it”. That said, I have written you multi times about the weak spot where the connecting wire enters the speaker. It fails there every time…….. Average life is about 1 year. I have glued a short piece of surgical tubing to the speaker with the tubing about 4 “long and encasing the wire. This helps…but it’s still a weak spot in the design.
Why don’t you just use a heavier wire ?????!!!!!. Something like the plastic insulation on a nominal 110 volt extension cord would do the job, A,H, Powers
Radio is usually it for me. It gets my mind off of everything. I usually listen to sports talk radio if I wake up too early. The pillow speaker is phenomenal.
Your surgical tubing is an excellent idea for extending the life. The wire in the cord breaking is not as simple as it sounds. If we used heavier wire the wires might break more often. We use very fine wire so it is more flexible (and hopefully less prone to breakage) and add additional strong flexible fiber around the fine wires for reinforcement. We could add stronger and more flexible insulation around wire but we choose soybean oil as a base for the rubber so it is less likely for harmful chemicals to be next to skin. We have made a serious effort to make the cord strain relief more flexible compared to other strain reliefs. We believe this is instrumental to a one-year warranty rather than 90 days as commonly found on this type of product. We still want you to be very happy and invite you to call when one breaks!
I do. Right now I use a sound machine
I listen to my Crane Wi-Fi radio at a low volume and my wife still complains.
I download several different podcasts to listen to at night. I transfer them to a MP3 player which is hooked up to a CCrane FM transmitter. I then listen with my CC Radio.
I have used the original pillow speaker for many years. My news talk radio station plays all night.
We like to listen to Coast to Coast to fall asleep.
I listen to tv.
I listen to C2C every night. Had
your pillow speaker for years. Found out about CCrane from the Art Bell days!
Have used a SoftSpeaker Pillow Speaker for years! Don’t know what I’d do without it! Whether or not it helps me get to sleep is debatable! These days it would probably be better to listen to something other than talk radio!
I listen to Old Time Radio….go to http://www.archive.org, then select Old Time Radio….literally hundreds of choices…detective series like Dragnet, Tales of the Texas Rangers,
Phillip Marlowe, plus many more. Also famous speeches by Winston Churchill and others…
Use the soft pillow speaker I got from C Crain years ago, but may order this new one!
Hypervigilance due to PTS. Late night/early morning radio is often my best friend. Love your products and your attitude.
Many a night I wake up and have a hard time getting back to sleep. Coast to Coast is my go to radio station. The only problem is there are times when the show is so interesting it keeps me wide awake.
I’ve been listening to coast to coast since 2002
I turn it on every single night no matter where I’m, I love this show, don’t get me wrong I wish I could stay up all night, but can’t do it every night,I have a small radio ( hard to put under the pillow) ☺️, it would really help to have to have one of this soft pillow speaker.
Oh I hope I win this. To listen to podcasts late at night. I am so lonely.
My husband is addicted to sleeping with his C Crane radio, pillow speaker, etc. It helps block out my Bi-Pap noise.
Every night I listen to talk radio on my cCrane when going to bed. If I just go to bed, my mind wanders into my recap of how my day went and all of my problems that I didn’t resolve, causing me to toss in turn restlessly for hours, with pounding heart!!
Consequently, I have been listening to talk radio for years.
When I reach over and turn on the radio, it clears my mind and I’m asleep within 5-10 minutes. But sometimes, my husband comments on what is being said on the radio because THE RADIO IS TOO LOUD!!!
I have been looking into pillow speakers and I think these speakers may be my ticket.
I’ve used a pillow speaker for years and recently use my
cc crane pocket radio and pillow speaker when under going treatment
for bladder cancer. I must lay quiet for at, least an hour or more. It sure
helps to keep your mind off of the problem. Thanks for usefull tools.
listen to my Google home device play music.
This looks like ultimate comfort, My radio is on day and night in my small apartment I have three
one in each room.seldom is TV on at 81 radio is my constant companion, therapeutic, and relaxing.
Mindless talk radio is the only thing I can fall asleep to… and always have to wait for my wife to fall asleep before I’m permitted to turn it on.
I have listened to talk radio or oldies, or http://midnightinthedesert.com/ with Heather Wade who took over for Art Bell I frankly have had enough for the most part of Coast to Coast with the current main host, other guest hosts are okay, especially Geroge Knapp in my opinion, I wish he was the main host
Can you share with us who your late night current favorite is? Inquiring minds would love to know. . .
I’ve gone through a couple of pillow speakers over the years love it.
I am an 87 year old live alone widow. I use a speaker I got years ago from C,Crane. I set my TV timer to go off in about 2 hours and turn the channel to “Forensic Files”…all half hour cold cases. They are low key and I rarely see the end of the first or second one as I am asleep. I use a pillow speaker, even though I live alone, because it doesn’t dominate the sound in the room. Music brings memories that keep me awake, more “exciting” dramas also keep my attention and wakefulness. This solution is weird, I know, but for me it works. Hearing is declining so yes, I need one with better amplification.
I must order one of these. I lost or misplaced the pillow speaker I bought from you, and now I use my Samsung to listen to music etc.
How much are the new ones?
Betty Gregory
The cost of the new Amplified SoftSpeaker 3 is $44.99 plus shipping. https://www.ccrane.com/item/hdp_audio_soft_ps3/pillow/softspeaker_3_amplified_pillow_speaker. The original SoftSpeaker without volume control is $22.99 and the one with volume control is $24.99
I listen to your internet radio – nightly before sleep – and if I wake at night – I turn it on as well. It has a sleep mode, When I am at my girlfriends house – I cannot do that for fear of keeping her up – and I don’t get a good night’s sleep. I am anxious to try this at her house – and for the 3 days of the week I m with her – I hope to be able to get a better nights sleep!
I listen to old radio shows and newer radio dramatizations
I listen to my CC Wi Fi Internet radio, but only to instrumental. Words keep me awake.
Police dispatch from Portland Oregon – and I live in Kansas City . Somehow the irregular nature of police radio traffic helps with my tinnitus. I use a cell phone app to connect wiht the Portland PD.
I listen to radio dramas and comedies from the 40’s on my internet radio.
My mom (whose 93 and struggles hearing) listens to msnbc hooked up to a small stereo system, with a small box speaker directed at her right ear…she would really enjoy the ergonomic handiness of your pillow speaker!…
I listen on my kindle ..movies or youtube news live.
I’ve been listening to my CC Wi Fi every night for about 10 years. Since I live in a very remote area that gets only one radio station, I use the CC Wi Fi to transmit the signal to my pocket radio and use an ear bud to listen. Lately my ear has been getting very sore from the ear bud. I tried the original pillow speaker, but it was to weak to hear. I, like others, listen at night to help put myself to sleep. So, I’m very happy to hear you have an amplified pillow speaker available.
I haven’t used my original speaker for quite sometime. It wasn’t very comfortable and my wife could hear it. I don’t hear well and she hears too well. Anyway, I will look into the new version.
If I can’t sleep I like listening to Coast2Coast AM. Would love this pillow speaker so I don’t wake up anyonem
Unfortunately, Coast to Coast A.M. broadcasts so early in the morning. I hang on each night until at least the 1st hour passes by listening to it with my SONY walkman am/fm/wx radio while falling asleep. Headset rather uncomfortable when trying to sleep.
Listening to music or, better yet, an audible book with a pillow speaker is the very best way for me to distract myself to sleep.
I have in the past, but I’d like to try this system out.
I listen to the best of Art Bell on TuneIn radio. If I happen to be awake when Coast To Coast AM comes on I’ll change the station, otherwise I allow Art and his dulcet tones to soothe me through the night.
I listen to Coast to Coast on a C Crane Pillow Speaker. Must use web rather than radio due to static from CPAP.
I have a problem with ringing in my ears & my Dr. Advised me to use a pillow speaker ( I found your speaker the best) to distract me from the silence, which makes the ringing worse. My only problem has been I like to listen to the radio on my I pad & have trouble hearing because I am unable to increase the volume. As I also have a hearing problem, Your new volume control speaker seems To be the answer.
I listen to the radio every night. It’s always tuned to the station that airs Coast to Coast.
I have been using the soft pillow speaker for as long as they have been out. I’m on my second one, this time with the volume control but it is not loud enough if it is under the pillow. My radio is the Skywave and I listen to Coast to Coast off and on when I wake at night.
I listen to the radio every night to fall asleep. Coast to Coast, other shows. Take my C Crane radio with me on the road. Have a pillow speaker but would like something that is adjustable without having to locate the radio.
I listen to Old-Time radio shows on my MP3 Player every night. I usually listen to half-hour shows like ‘The Great Gildersleeve’ , ‘Fibber McGee & Molly’ and ‘Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar’. It usually takes several nights to hear a complete show, as the shows really relax me and off to sleep I go.
I use a pillow speaker to fall asleep at night.
