The main purpose for Daylight Saving Time or “Summer Time” is to make better use of the daylight. Something we may all wonder is why do we still observer Daylight Saving Time. Besides having more daylight to play and enjoy the sunshine, we get more done. By advancing the clock ahead an hour we benefit retail venues, sports games and other activities that utilize the sunlight after daytime work hours. However, the US Department of Transportation says the number one reason we still observer Daylight Saving Time is for the conservation of energy. A study showed that DST lowers the entire countries energy consumption during the spring and summer months. Another great added benefit to enjoying the sunshine!
