Gift of myself for service
It is hard to pick just one, but years ago my wife was very excited when I got her a dual-cassette tape deck system she had been wanting, the key to a good gift is to know what the receiver of the gift has been really wanting 🙂
i am blessed by winning lots of things – i won an enormous turkey from the local market. I donated it to the soup kitchen – it took forever to cook!

I am kind of a a LEGO nerd. There was one time when I gave a LEGO Mini-figure to everyone in my family. Some loved it some hated it.

The gift of Knowledge – It took a long time to see the gift’s results , but now my nieces are grown up and adults, they know to do research before believing in the latest headlines that are being pushed out to the public without seeing who it benefits in the long run.

When my wife and I had just started dating, she was living on her own in a very small basement type apartment and did not own much of anything, just the very basic of living supplies. So for Christmas I bought her a radio, complete with cassette deck and CD player and a VCR, Neither of which she owned, she was so very appreciative of the gifts especially since we had not been dating that long, that even now after 12 years of marriage she still talks about that particular Christmas and those gifts!
13 handmade Nativity sets made from lumps of clay.
I have to say the best gift I have ever given was this 3-tiered dessert tray my friend and I made for a friend of ours. He was an exchange student from Brazil, never really experiencing American home-made goods. My friend and I really wanted to make his first Christmas in the United States a great experience, so we baked tons of cookies, bars, brownies, and cookies for him. His face lit up when we gave it to him. 🙂
I misread the question. The best gift I’ve ever given was tickets to my parents so they could visit a warm city (Houston) for Christmas.
I was inspired by a friend to volunteer at the salvation army around the holidays. It was so satisfying: the gift of my time in spite of a very busy schedule! 🙂
A Ghostbusters Proton Backpack to my son in 1988 ,when he was 5 years old.
Taking care of a neighbor, cancer sickness to death. And I would give it again.

MY apple pies. Last year I made one for each of my 17 nephews and nieces. It was well worth the effort 🙂
Tickets for my grand parents to attend my cousin’s graduation. They travelled to Sweden and were thrilled!
I volunteered at the local toy drive and collected a mini-van worth of new toys from our neighborhood. It was so heart warming to imagine that I was adding to the kids’ smiles!
I am a regular volunteer at the Soup Kitchen. Trust me you don’t know the satisfaction until you have given th3 gift of care and time to those in need.
I don’t remember ever giving a gift to anyone that was really the best gift, I give my wife a gift of “Europeon Facials” and she really seems to love that, but there is nothing that really stands out.
I have been sponsoring 2 kids’ education at our local primary school. I let the school principal pick the most deserving and needy candidate and take responsibility of their books, and other extra curricular expenses. Little I can do to pass on the goodness I have been blessed with in life.
Finding our lost dog on Christmas eve!
I gave a neighborhood child her first doll
many, many years ago. I had enough $$ to buy everyone (about a doz. people) a gift for christmas. It took me a long time to pick them out and get them back to the house. I spent about $10. I had to carry them home (over a mile walking) in several bags. In the 40s and I was 7 or 8. Can’t do that now.
A hand knit by me sweater to my mom
I don’t think any one was better than another. They’re all given with love.
My mom always wanted a handmade quilt so I found out that a co-workers wife was a quilter and I had her make one for my mom. She was thrilled to finally have one.
A new chainsaw for a friend who really needed it.
I too volunteered at a church to help set up for their annual holiday fair each early December. I’m happy to help.
I haven’t won a thing and probably won’t. I wouldn’t know what to do with an MP3 Player anyway. Something to be stolen while riding on public transit in the Northeast. I’ve outgrown rock n roll and like to listen to classical. It calms me down. So I still just want a radio!!
A trip to a glamorous spa for an elderly newly-wed couple.
A sack full of toys for good little girls and boys.
